Corporate social responsibility

Our team

One Queen Anne's Gate are committed to equal opportunity for all regardless of their race, origin, disability, age, gender, beliefs, religion or lifestyle choices.

We seek to create a work environment based on mutual respect for all individuals, building a culture that appreciates and values the experiences and skills brought by each person to benefit our organisation.

We will not condone any and all practises not based on honesty, integrity and fairness.

Our energy awareness

One Queen Anne's Gate is always looking at ways of reducing the energy within the building.

Electricity

Implementation of energy efficient bulbs wherever possible in the building.

With halogen bulbs in many areas that reduce the energy used from 50 watts to 35 watts,  in other cases we use bulbs that reduce power from 60 watts to 11 watts.

Ensuring that all areas not in use, including the meeting rooms have the lights and equipment switched off.

Energy monitoring

Monthly statistics are calculated with a target to decrease energy usage by 10% in the next 12 months.

The heating system and radiators are monitored switching off any radiators not required.

Energy Performance Certification Review

One Queen Anne's Gate has recently had a EPC Review and is Band D (benchmarked to buildings of similar type we are 2 bands higher and more energy efficient).

Air conditioning

Air conditioning gives instant comfort on a really hot day but the energy that has to be generated to cope with running the units is considerable.

We encourage the use of an open window policy which can make the working day more pleasant as we are located in a quiet part of the city rather than putting on the air conditioning.

Water

We have had a water efficiency survey conducted in the building which showed that we are a low-usage building.

Wherever possible we have installed cistern displacement devices.

Waste and recycling

Cutting down on the amount of unnecessary printing, particularly colour, and whenever possible encourage double sided printing.  Any food waste is uplifted and sent to a community recycling organisation.

E-mailing brochures and booking forms

Our contracted waste carrier removes on a daily basis our office waste to a waste transfer station for material recycling.

The installation of a cardboard shredder reduces the amount removed from the building.

Unwanted mail

We reduce the amount of paper waste that comes through the post by marking it as "Unwanted Mail, Return to Sender.

Green Tourism for London  Bronze level

Visit London supported the London Development Agency in the launch of the GTL, London's first ever scheme to help hotels, guesthouses attractions and venues in the capital to become greener.

It is the first independently audited green accreditation scheme for the capital and has three main aims: to help improve resource and energy management,

One Queen Anne's Gate, recently had a second grading visit from Green Tourism for London and has successfully passed the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GBTS) audit at Silver level.

After the accreditation grading visit, GBTS commented "Since the last visit there have been several improvements.  The green message is communicated effectively - meeting rooms have a copy of the environmental policy, responsible visitor information as well as recycling bins.  This is complemented with recycled flip charts, recycled pens and good use of water bottling onsite.  These measures and other staff marketing have encouraged more green businesses to use One Queen Anne's Gate as a venue."

Location

Being located in Central London with excellent public transport links and access to bicycle park stands, visitors to One Queen Anne's Gate are encouraged to use these modes of transport to the venue.

Purchasing

We are committed to actively identifying those elements of the business that impact on the environment and, where possible eliminating or reducing these through the development of management practices and procedures involving systematic planning, operational control, monitoring and review.

OneQAG branded pens are made from recycled CD cases.
OneQAG branded pencils are made from recycled newspaper.
100% recycled conference paper
100% recycled flipchart pads

Our food

It is not possible for UK farmers, either on a local or collective basis, to meet the total demand from caterers for year round produce.  Consequently it is necessary to import a proportion of our food.
Where ever possible food is locally sourced with thought to food miles.

For fruit and vegetables we incorporate in-season, non-air-freighted products on the supply list.  This list changes weekly and the food miles are counted from London Bridge.

We use a fish supplier that is committed to responsible sourcing from well managed and sustainable fisheries. Our supplier does not supply any species on the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources Red List of Endangered Species. It was the first company within food service to offer Marine Stewardship Council approved products

Our chicken is Freedom Food Accredited and all our eggs are free range.

Our coffee, tea, sugar and bananas are Fairtrade.

The coffee is also RainForest Alliance and Soil Association Certified.

Community projects

One Queen Anne's Gate - Tap into WaterAid

One Queen Anne's Gate is suggesting to customers to make a voluntary donation to WaterAid for every bottle of chilled tap water they consume during their event. The scheme works by simply ticking a box on the OneQAG booking form to pledge an amount to Tap into WaterAid. All donations made are passed on to WaterAid to fund life-saving water, sanitation and hygiene education projects in the developing world

We are 'all ears'...
