History
The Right Honourable Sir Edward Grey MP, Foreign Secretary to the Campbell-Bannerman administration, was the last private occupier of One Queen Anne’s Gate from 1906 to 1913. He is probably best remembered for his remark at the outbreak of the First World War: “The lamps are going out all over Europe. We shall not see them lit again in our time”.
His residence is depicted by the blue plaque located at the main entrance.
